SUMMARY:2022 11q Research & Resource Group Family Conference
DESCRIPTION:Tia Marsili\, Director of Trusts at The Arc of Northern Virginia\, will present on Advocacy\, Legal and Financial Planning. \n11q Research & Resource Group knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by\, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Through networking\, cooperation with the research community\, and the resulting sharing of information\, we will be better able to meet the challenges brought to us as parents\, families and friends of 11q children. \nRegister for this event here. \n \n

SUMMARY:FFFP - July 8\, 2022 - Let’s Get Moving! Forward-Thinking Housing Solutions for All (Part 1)
DESCRIPTION:While you will get the most out of attending both sessions\, you do not need to attend Part One to participate in and learn from Part Two. Both sessions will be recorded if you are not able to attend both. \nThinking about housing solutions for your loved one can be overwhelming. Where to start? What are my options? Housing is one of the most complicated issues involved in establishing a fulfilling\, supported independent life for family members with disabilities. It can be a daunting prospect for family members who are engaged in future planning for their loved ones with disabilities\, but fortunately you are not in this alone. Join The Arc of Northern Virginia’s Special Needs Trust team for a two-part webinar series focused on housing solutions for adults with any disability. \nIn Part One\, we will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss what options are available through state and federal services and how to weave services in a way that support individualized needs. By combining and individualizing your approach to these services\, you’ll be able to formulate a housing strategy that suits your loved one’s needs precisely. \nPart Two of this series will continue the exploration of quality housing options for individuals with disabilities\, sharing a number of success stories and engaging in problem-solving with our participants. This will allow you to see how these strategies have been successfully put into real-world practice\, and to get a better idea of what those solutions could look like for you and your family. \nDuring both sessions\, attendees will join facilitated breakout rooms to discuss the presentations and come up with questions to bring back to the panelists. These sessions are intended to establish actionable items and are meant to address all levels of support. \nPresenters will include: \nJeannie Cummins-Eisenhour from DBHDS \nDonna Budway from Our Stomping Grounds \nMelissa Blackburn from SafeInHome \nMark Albert\, Board Member\, The Arc of Northern Virginia \nTia Marsili\, Director of Trusts\, The Arc of Northern Virginia \nRegister for this event here. \n\n \n
