FFFP – June 2, 2023 – Financial Planning Under Unique Circumstances (via ZOOM)
June 2, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
Presented by Cortney Heykoop, Clover Leaf Wealth Strategies, LLC and Tia Marsili, Trust Director at The Arc of Northern Virginia
Planning for the financial future for your child with a disability is crucial, and it is also one of the most personal experiences a parent can have. It’s not just about planning for the future; it’s planning for a future that you as a parent won’t always be around to help with. The circumstances of your family’s needs may be unusual and require a specialized approach.
In this session, we’ll explore not just how to plan for that financial future with a Special Needs Trust with The Arc of Northern Virginia, but also the personal steps you can take to make the process one you can trust. We’ll look at the process with an eye towards creating trusting relationships with all the parties involved in establishing and maintaining a Special Needs Trust for your loved one.
Cortney Heykoop has been in the banking and financial services industry since 1999. Cortney graduated from The Catholic University of American in 1998 with a degree in International Economics and Finance. While spending most of her career in finance, she also owned and operated Heykoop Photography for a handful of years when her children were young. This entrepreneurial experience was highly successful and gave her the confidence and experience to take on larger pursuits. After reentering the finance world in 2015, Cortney dreamt of stepping out on her own as an independent financial advisor. In September of 2018, she opened the doors of Clover Leaf Wealth Strategies.
Mrs. Heykoop focuses on financial planning for families in Loudoun County Virginia with a passion for the special needs market. This passion grew after adopting a special needs child 16 years ago. With the arrival of her daughter she experienced, firsthand, the isolation and lack of support parents felt as they struggled with daily challenges and complex issues- The importance of a trusted advisor, had never been more evident. Cortney, a Chartered Special Needs Consultant, works daily to be that trusted advisor and resource for the families she works with and the community at large.
Cortney is a member The Society for International Development, a Member of the Lucketts Ruritan Chapter, Lucketts Business Collaborative, the Leesburg Business Forum, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, Lucketts Elementary PTA, multiple Boosters Clubs and a multi-troop Leader for the Girl Scouts of America.
