As special needs parents, Mark and his wife have encountered the same planning surprises that many of his clients face. He says if he was caught off guard and a CFP and financial professional, it can happen to anyone. Much of the conventional wisdom that surrounds financial planning is less that relevant when planning for the care of a special needs child, and the financial services industry at large has done a poor job of educating both professionals and the public.
